Deny an Aussie a beer on a hot tropical day, and you are just asking for trouble.

Take away a German's sun lounger and umbrella underneath a scorching sun and expect all manner of chaos to erupt.

Welcome to the dilemma of two of Asia's leading resort destinations Phuket and Bali.

This last week Indonesia has been making international headlines over a restriction over sales of beer and alcoholic premixed drinks in supermarkets and convenience stores.

Thankfully hotels and restaurants have not been effected but the impact on drinking spots along Bali's beaches remains a question mark.

As for Phuket's continued angst over what is the future of the sun lounger/umbrella ban, there are more questions than answers.

For the twin towers of Asian resort tourism the wild card of uncertainty over the missing B's beers and beaches would even has Bill Shakes scratching his head.
