BALI VS. PHUKET Occupancy and Airlift Growth Forecasted

Category: Tourism, Posted:03 Jan 2010 | 06:00 am

Phuket's primary destination competitor Bali is anticipating occupancy growth in 2010 of up to 8% according to the Bail Hotel Association. Increased airlift into the destination have spurred tourism numbers.
The high profile organization which counts over 100 member properties in the island is producing a promotional movie titled “Bali is My Life” which is expected to get global recognition.
As we have written many times unfortunately Phuket does not have a large scale visitors or tourism organization promoting the hotels on the island with the exception of the much broader Thai Hotel Association and private initiatives such as the Destination Marketing organization of Laguna Phuket.
Certainly the Bali model is one that this island needs to be seriously to remain on par in a growingly competitive marketplace.
