Banyan Tree Eye Sri Lanka For Laguna-Like Resort

Category: Hotels, Posted:20 Jun 2011 | 06:00 am

On the heels of news that the Singapore based Banyan Tree group have wound down their business relationship with an existing hotel in Sri Lanka, the company search is now on for a Laguna-like destination resort site.
An Angsana managed 77 room property, Deer Park Hotel in Giritale was recently terminated.
Sri Lanka which has seen vast improvements in the 24 months since the ending of a long civil war, is seeing a huge influx of investment.
Much of this is being driven from mainland China who are assisting in a second international airport in the south and Hong Kong's Shangri La group which have two large projects in the pipeline
Banyan Tree continues to favor the large mixed-use model it has successful developed in Phuket, Bintan and the Laguna Hue project in Vietnam, that will open in 2012.
