Can Thailand's Broken UNESCO Link Be Fixed?

While the pre-electioneering of the past government saw Thailand withdraw from the World Heritage Convention in the ongoing dispute with Cambodia.
Many political insiders are viewing the possibility that the new Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra may be able to resolve the Preah Vihear Temple crisis.
For the island, the ambition of many local officials and businesses to have Phuket Town attain UNESCO heritage status is for the moment on the back burner.
It's unfortunate that Phuket has somehow been caught in the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia, but there could be light at the end of the tunnel should a peaceful resolution be negotiated.
