Chedi Phuket Changing Names

Category: Hotels, Posted:27 Sep 2010 | 13:48 pm

As of the end of October one of Phuket's longstanding upscale hotels The Chedi will be renamed The Surin.
Last year upon the conclusion of the management agreement with Singapore based GHM hotels there was much speculation about the future of the property.
According to ownership the property will undergo an extensive upgrading preprogram on a staggered basis.
Malaysia's YTL Hotels which has a significant shareholding in the property has been active in acquisition recently with a transaction for the Niseko Village in Japan and also taking out the ex-Lehman's shareholding in a co-owned prime hotel site in Koh Samui.
The conglomerate's hospitality assets include the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton in Kuala Lumpur, Muse in St. Tropez, and Pangkor Laut, Cameron Highlands and Tajong Jara in Malaysia amongst a growing portfolio. In Phuket YTL also has Villa Tassana.
This is not the first name of the property, as it started life once upon as time as The Pansea.
