Exactly Where Is Bratislava?

While I am a fairly well rounded traveler, just the other day someone was speaking of Bratislava and my mind took at left turn.
Was it Slovakia, or Slovenia?
Well silly me, of course it's in Slovakia and seemingly it's okay to call its citizens 'Slavs'.
Much of the confusion comes from the face that it used to be part of Hungary.
Checking out some pictures online of medieval castles and it is according to a number of resources the cultural capital of Slovakia.
I'm not sure my next holiday will be heading in that direction but you never do know.
