Greater Phuket Marine Triangle In the Works

Thailand’s Marine Department is set to finalize bids next week in the first phase of a program to set-up new maritime links between Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi

According to the Bangkok Post, the Andaman Ring initiative will connect the Phuket deep-sea port to the local government pier in nearby Krabi.

Next will be Ao Po Phuket, Phang Nga’s Chong Lad  (Koh Yao Yai) and Krabi’s Thalen piers.

Futher phases will include Koh Lanta and Koh Jum.

For tourism the idea of using fast ferries and improved connectivity via Phang Nga Bay is a practical solution that can ease road traffic and create new experiences for visitors to the area.
