HICAP Southeast Asia Update Wrap Up

Category: Hotels, Posted:10 May 2011 | 06:00 am

Last weeks HICAP (Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific) Southeast Asia Update 2011 in Singapore was a great success.
Having attended the event it was nice seeing so many familier faces from Thailand.
With a new logo by David Keens branding outfit, attendence was good and the Pan Pacific made an excellent venue.
Certainly keynote speaker Richard Duncan's address on the economic outlook brought a dose of reality to the table And he summed it up well with the tagline – "every boom busts".
As one could conjecture – the thing we know for sure is that we don't know what lays ahead.
STR Global's Jonas Ogren demonstrated the strength of Asia's hsopitality markets by the nubmers and Jone Lang LaSalle Hotels segment hightlighted Thailand.
Talk of the new buyers of Phuket's Evason and Bangkok's Sofitel to be known soon, and a few other properties coming into the transaction maket on the island came close to home.
Expect more hotel sales this year to rattle the cage.
Later up in the year is the granddaddy of Asian hotel events HICAP Hong Kong set for October 12-14 at the InterContinental Hotel.
