HOTELS Cheap Chic Niche
Some may call it taboo like kissing your cousin but who says inexpensive hotels can't be chic.
There are all those Mr. Nice no frill terms attached – basic, small, boutique, lifestyle, hip but all too often these monikers turn out to break the piggy bank.
I've been known to stay in the odd ibis here and there or the Holiday Inn but no one will ever call this a stylish experience.
As far as I can remember the high water mark for the CC (cheap chic) movement as Ian Schrager's trend setting New York located Hudson Hotel,
Of course we have the west coast Kimpton chain but so far in Asia, boutique has continued to wreck havoc on the wallet.
We are looking forward to Bangkok's Aloft hotel though which by all accounts could hit the sweet spot.
