If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Six

Category: Tourism, Posted:27 Nov 2013 | 05:43 am

Six. Triple up and you get the mark of the beast.
My six on this particular Tuesday just kept on rolling like an out of control freight train driven by a captain so amped up on Red Bull and any matter of white powder that it seems like an early snowfall east of the Ural mountains.
Clearly I left my mojo at home, fast asleep when I headed to PIA for a morning flight to Bali via Singapore. Or so I thought.
Six for the hours I spent at Phuket International Airport waiting for the SilkAir engines to be fixed on the plane to which was supposed to take me to Singapore.
Six is the time in the evening the last regular airline departed from Changi Airport, which I was doomed to miss. I could wait til morning to seek alternatives. No good was going to become of this.
Six for the seats on my left, right and the one where my butt is planted on the AirAsia midnight express to Bali (note – there was no other choice).
Six for the thousand Baht I spent buying a ticket from Singapore to Bali as my previously purchased ticket on SQ could not be used on AirAsia.
Six is what I'd call a remake of the Magnificant Seven which is arguably the best movie ever made.
Six is the number of my available fingers that I can count which are not being used typing this rant.
Six, the maximum hours of sleep I can expect to get to sleep tonight before getting up at the crack of dawn, caffeinating and taking a boat to a small island near Lombok. I too need a quick math lesson, I'll be lucky to get four hours at best. Oh joy, I've been told to expect heavy waves.
Six feet is how tall in feet I am. But once I got past 50, I've got this shrinking feeling, so note to self – measure up.
Six is the glasses of wine I'd drink on this very AirAsia plane on a 2 hour and forty minute flight to Bali, if only the Indonesian version sold alcohol. They of course do not. Note to criminal self, the Russian's two rows back seem to be sleeping and I do recall seeing a bottle of Duty Free Jaegger on a bad. Is stealing really a crime?
Six is the number of angry cramped people viewing my extra leg room Hot Seat with envy. Things could turn ugly.
It's all six, no matter how you slice it. Tomorrow is another day. At least it won't be Tuesday. I've moved on and can only hope six does as well.
