Hyatt Phuket and Samui Pipeline Update

Category: Hotels, Posted:01 Jun 2009 | 07:43 am

I was in Singapore last week and spoke to Hyatt Area Vice President Willi Martin on the status of their projects in Phuket and Samui. In Samui the Park Hyatt on Thong Krut Bay which is 90 luxury villas and 24 residences remains in development and the process is continuing though some delays have been encountered.
Here in Phuket the much speculated Park Hyatt project at Emerald Bay in South Patong has been shelved by the owners and currently there are no plans at the moment. For the Hyatt Regency <link>http://www.thephuketinsider.com/hotels/index.php*Phuket Resort</link> and Spa in Nai Yang which had reached substantial works with its 151 rooms is continued to be on hold at the moment and no opening date has been set.
Certainly a Hyatt in Phuket will be coming on line at some point though certainly the existing hotel pipeline is seeing an impact from the political uncertainty and economic crises which is now seeing delays hit many luxury branded hotel projects here as well as throughout the region.
