Some 40 years after opening one of Manila's leading luxury hotels, the Mandarin will close its doors before the need of the year.
A new 275-room Mandarin property on another site is being planned by developer Ayala Land , with a 2020 opening date scheduled.
Ayala will be redeveloping the existing hotel site.
As Asia's CBD areas continue to evolve, this move will no doubt see other similar ones in the region, as older single use properties cannot keep pace with larger mixed-use more commercially minded developments.
