NEWS FLASH Plastic Bag Surcharge Delayed to 2010

The proposed 2 Baht surcharge for plastic bags which was to have been implemented by December 5 by many of the islands retailers has now been delayed to February 2010 according to Energy Office Chief Jirasuk Tummawetch. As reported in the media, the time line for implementation had been too short. Jirasak has said the Department would welcome any suggestions or comments by calling 076-210178-9. A new date of February 14, 2010 has been set and small bags of five liters and under would be 1 Baht with larger ones charged 2 Baht.
