PHUKET CONVENTION CENTER Mai Khao Hotel Project Axed

Under the revised development plan of the new Phuket Exhibition and Convention Center in Mai Khao a planned hotel has been axed along with one of the four exhibition buildings. While the Thai Cabinet has approved a THB 2.6 billion budget this was a reduction from the original project plan of close to THB 3.75 billion.
Plans call for the facility to be completed in H2 2012 and would be a key demand generator for the islands MICE (meetings/incentives/conventions/exhibitions) market.
