Phuket To Mark Tsunami Anniversary

Category: Tourism, Posted:04 Oct 2014 | 06:00 am

This year on December 26th the island will remember the 2004 tragic Asian tsunami, on its 10th anniversary.
Across the region, from Sri Lanka to Indonesia other affected areas are expected to commemorate the event.
Speaking to locals and residents alike there remains mixed feelings and as of yet for many they simply wish to not be reminded of that fateful day.
While there are many viewpoints on the issue, the fact remains that the past cannot simply be erased and remembrance of not only the good in life but the sad remains part of our collective journey.
Hopefully as we get closer to the date, sentiment will dictate compassion for those who choose to reflect on the day December 26, 2004 and how it impacted Phuket.
