Pilot Error at Fault in One-Two-Go Phuket Crash

Category: Tourism, Posted:02 Jun 2009 | 10:33 am

Thailand's Civil Aviation Department has issued a report on its web site concluding that pilot error and fatigue were at fault in the 2007 crash of a One-Two-Go MD-82 airliner crash which claimed 90 lives. Further recommendations were made to AOT (Airport Authority of Thailand) who operates PIA that the runway needs to be upgraded and expand as well as better landing systems when poor visibility is present. Also improved access for rescue personnel should be addressed.
The report is available on the CAD's website http://www.aviation.go.th . As of yet the airline has made no public announcements on the report and is continuing to operate flights in Thailand.
