Return To The Year Of Living Dangerously -2014

Category: Tourism, Posted:01 Jan 2014 | 11:47 am

Today is the dawn of a near year here in Thailand and while it's hard not to be optimistic this early in the game, the clouds of political uncertainty hang heavy over the nation.
Will it be a matter of expecting the worse, and hoping for the best in the days ahead?
Hard to say and for us here in Phuket while we remain an island in the sea of uncertainty, there is no way to entirely disconnect our businesses with the greater Brand Thailand ghost in the machine.
Geo political risk remains the biggest issue not only in this country but in the wider world ahead.
Without a doubt 2014 poses broader questions be it terrorism in the lead up to the Winter Olympics, or the US's positioning on quantitative easing.
Risk and reward, threat and opportunity, these are the rule of the new fight club and what is painfully clear coming into a new uncertain future is, get the gloves on and let's get into the fray of the New Year as there simply is no turning back.
Happy New Year Thailand, we wish for the best in the days ahead.
