Sleeping With Citizen M's Boutique Brand

Category: Hotels, Posted:03 Sep 2009 | 06:40 am

Be if affordable luxury, design or tech hotel are going though a metamorphous in today world. In Phuket Twin Palms rewrote the book on how smaller is often better for the well traveled tourist who is burned out in what they consider room factories at non descript hotels.
One of the most exciting concepts we've see are the Citizen M hotels in the Netherlands. Hip, modern, offering budget luxury, technology, great beds and pillows in a trendy atmosphere. What more could you want?
In Thailand we see the playing field already changing, hotels are getting smaller, design are driving elements in a defining way rather then institutional look alikes. The next 5 years are going to be interesting as so many of these properties size do not make then attractive to the global hotel chains yet tap into strong customer sentiment and loyalty. Be it Bangkok's S15, Singapore's Quincy, or Hong Kong's LKF the region is seeing change. So who will come out on top the independants, a growing number of boutique management companies or else the big chains? Consumers never had it so good as ultimately they will be determining the pecking order.
