THAI AIRWAYS SAGA How To Win Friends And Influence People
It was an enlightening read today in the Bangkok Post seeing the incoming President of Thai Airways Piyasvasti Amranand comment on the excesses of the privileged few. Targeting both politicians and what he terms "greedy executives" he went on to detail out some of the abuses:
"Executives and politicians in an 1992 rule were allowed upgrades only on availability at the boarding gate but in most cases this is being done automatically at check in. Senior management and executives receive 15 free tickets a year, while low level staff only get two. Baggage overage, VIP treatment and lounge access would be limited."
For anyone who has waited on a plane set to depart for a VIP clearly this good news and certainly a brave positioning for the head of an ailing airline which was once considered one of the region's best.
