Thai Group Leads Bali Hotel Takeover Charge

Category: Hotels, Posted:05 May 2012 | 10:17 am

Thailand's U Hotels and Resorts have taken over management of the 190 key Le Grande Bali in Pecatu Bali. A rebranding exercise is being undertaken with the new name set to be U Agathis Pecatu, and a launch set for August.
Meanwhile the management group who's operating name is Absolute Hotel Services have encountered a delay in their upscale 103 suite Seminyak property U Paasha. An opening is now looking to be late in the year.
Word has come that Marriott's Autograph Collection has inked a deal for The Stones in Legian. Part of a modern entertainment venue , Marriott are already advertising for staff locally. This will be the entry point of the white label Autograph Collection by Marriott into Indonesia, with the group targeting independent properties (i.e. ACCOR's chain tier equivalent is MGallery).
Marriott have a number of new hotels in the Bali pipeline including a new JW Marriott in Nusa Dua, a Ritz-Carlton nearby and a second Courtyard by Marriott in Seminyak.
Another signing has occurred in Pecatu with Singapore based Meritus signing up the Klapa Breeze villas and condo hotel. The 130 units are located on a prime cliff front location overlooking Dreamland beach. The property is adjacent to The Wuku which will be run by Thailand's Centara Hotels and Resorts.
Wrapping up the activity is the fast developing business unit of the Minor Hotel Group – Anantara Vacation Club who are in the process of moving taking over the 18 villa boutique resort Ranadi in Seminyak.
Last week I was able to visit the new Anantara Uluwatu which is in pre-opening. The property is spectacular and expect big demand and a high average room rate from the new oceanfront resort.
