THAILAND TRAVEL Free Tourist Visas Extended One More Year

In a sharp turnaround the Thai Cabinet has announced the free tourist visa policy (for qualifying nationalities) will now be extended for an additional year from April 1, 2010 up to March 31, 2011. The move comes as a strategy to further assist the tourism industry recovery from the events of the past few years.
In addition for airlines reduced landing and parking fees are part of the stimulus package. While last is USD10,000 in 'riot' protection' for visitors which has gather some high profile comments from various circles as perhaps the messaging of the value add offer is perhaps not as well thought out as it should have been.
Nonetheless all of these moves remain positives in challenging market conditions and show the current Government's willingness to knowledge tourism as a key driver to the national economy.
