Thailand's Environmental Cases Headed To Court

Mounting legislation and support by both the public and private sector on environmental issues is manifest itself into Thailand's court system.
Leading international legal firm Baker & McKenzie recently release an update that points out the recent lawsuits over the controversial Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate are paving the way for similar cases.
The report highlights that in April of this year the nation's civil court formed an special Environmental Cases Division to handle the upswing in litigation and complaints.
In summary the developments in the legal and regulatory systems of the country show the businesses need to look at compliance and potential liability in a new way given the changes in environmental enforcement and awareness.
