Category: Tourism, Posted:17 Jan 2011 | 06:00 am

Two new mega Government led transportation projects are set to aid Phuket's quest to increase long term tourism numbers.
First is the approval for an expansion of the nation's gateway airport Suvarnabhumi. Set to finish in 20156 existing capacity of 45 million passengers will be bolstered up to 60 million per year.
Second is collaboration with China for high speed trains between Bangkok and Kunming. Under study are multiple services that could see an accessible rail link that would take approximately 10 hours and then connect to a national railway system which is undergoing rehabilitation.
So there you have it, trains, planes and now if Phuket can just sort out its automobiles.
