Wego's Phuket Viral Internet Campaign Launched

At last we are seeing tactical promotions aimed at increasing room nights into the struggling Phuket market with Singapore based online provider Wego launching a Phuket specific promotion. thephuketinsider.com had a chance to catch up with Founder and Chief Commercial Officer Craig Hewett to discuss the promotion. Asian residents from selected markets can sign up online and win a 'VIP Phuket Getaway' at the recently launched IndoChine Resort in Kalim.
Speaking to Craig who comments on the impact of an emerging trend of viral communications he commented "with the increased popularity of social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, its easier now to reach a larger audience though virals as messages flow quickly though social media channels."
As to the state of the Phuket market he added" Phuket is one of our most searched destinations as a large percentage of Wego users are within 2-3 hour flying time to Phuket, so its an impulsive trip driven by cheap low cost carrier fares."
Hopefully we will see more targeted online promotions of this nature as it not only drives traffic to the area but helps build the Phuket brand name in a cost effective manner.
