Well according to Thailand's Environment Institute this is the ability of coral reefs and mangroves to retain higher levels of green friendly carbon dioxide then rainforest's and trees.
In nearby Krabi on Koh Klang the Islanda Eco Village resort is participating in a project that covers the planting of mangroves which in turn fuel the coral reef ecosystem.
Damaging greenhouse gas emissions continue to be a leading cause of global warming and the carbon offset programs such as these are critical in maintain a healthy equilibrium between nature and the creep of development.
