Road trips between Singapore and Malaysia are set to become more expensive for cars from the Lion City venturing north over the causeway.
A vehicle entry permit will be implemented by the end of the year which is expected to be substantial.
Earlier this year Singapore adopted a road tax for Malaysian vehicles coming south.
For tourism the move will perhaps only encourage more people to take to the low-cost airline carriers and travel further abroad.
