HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 365 Days In The Life

Category: Tourism, Posted:23 Mar 2010 | 06:00 am

Numbers tend to be blinding – 365 days, 52 weeks, 7 days, 24 hours, 60 seconds all blur into a flickering computer screen. Have I gone mad, lost my mind, blindness is near, and what about the pounding of my heart (this turned out the be the effect of 3 double espressos all consumed at a rapid pace before 8 am.)
Staring into the rear view mirror of the past year, though this is a common practice for anyone driving in Phuket as its survival of the fittest on the islands dangerous roads ,the days somehow blend into some complex smoothie that your order. 'Give me one of everything' and throw in some wheatgrass shots along with those leftover glasses of red wine out by the dishwasher.
For the past year thephuketinsider.com since we launched on March 23, 2009 has been a captivating experience for me, to say the least. I've weaved, bobbed, jumped and ducked more times than I can remember. In many cases nasty falls have ensured, mistakes made, corrected and continuing on in this sometimes bizarre yet passion filled journey. Moses in the desert and Forest Gump come to mind, though this quest perhaps lacks proportion and I'd doubtfully get a group of islanders to cross the Red Sea.
Critics and supporters along the way have fueled the flames and stomped them out at other times, but for me it's proven to be a great experience to share a love for the island of Phuket, be it good, bad or ugly.
While I continue to struggle with poor grammar, typos and misspellings, it never ceases to be a wondrous and joyful learning experience. I have the utmost respect for true journalists and humbly regret I lack the training and skills necessary to prod that admirable profession.
What this site remains focused on is providing insight, information and hopefully a sense of humor about property, tourism, and hotels on in Phuket. No more, no less and no apologies. While at times there remains idle speculation about viewing these sectors with rose colored shades, I can honestly say who would not want to come and visit, stay or purchase property in one of the nicest corners of the globe?
For those who take the time to read, to share, and comment on the positive and the negative, I think you for joining me on the ride.
Keep the faith.
