Langkawi Pushes Back Mass Market

I've just finished reading an article in TTG Asia about the nearby island of Langkawi.
While last year the island had a reported 3.4 million visitors, the Chief Executive of the Langkawi Development Authority has said the destination is shying away from amusement parks and mega projects.
With some well known luxury hotel brand names in the pipeline the focus is to be on quality versus quantity.
Airlift into the island still remains a key inhibitor but if Samui's recent success is any gauge, perhaps Langkawi is better promoting smaller is beautiful.
