Back of the continued US economic worries the casino giants from Las Vegas are now targeting Asia as their primary global expansion target. While Macau, Sentosa, Hainan Island and the Philippines are seeing wide coverage, now Vietnam has announced a new project.
Asian Coast Development will open the MGM Grand Ho Tram in southern Vietnam by 2013. The USD400 million 1,100 room hotel is backed by investment fund Harbinger Capital Partners. The master planned destination resort has eventual plans for five resorts, with two offering casino operations.
What is now being hailed as the Ho Tram Strip is a beach destination about 1 ½ hour's drive from Ho Chi Minh City.
