Westin On Phuket's East Coast Opening March

Category: Hotels, Posted:04 Nov 2009 | 07:14 am

The island's east coast is seeing hotel scale increase with the opening of Westin's Siray Bay Resort and Spa set for March of next year. With 258 rooms, 6 food and beverage outlets, 4 meeting rooms and 3 swimming pools the guest target is the upscale hotel tier coupled with a 5 star rating.
Operating as part of the global Starwood chain which also manages the Sheraton Grande Laguna and Le Meridien Phuket, as well as the Four Points By Sheraton in nearby Makham Bay which is targeting to open in 2011.
While the Phang Nga bay facing eastern part of the island has been slower in seeing hotel projects the past few years new openings by Radisson and Outrigger this year have seen a revitalized interest in the scenic coastline which has favorable year round conditions. Reportedly there is another large hotel site on Koh Siray which is in the planning stages and would be operated in the luxury segment.
